On Saturday, 19 October 2024, the Bedford Sinfonia’s concert, under the direction of Ian Smith, will consist of a programme of music by three composers who were contemporaries, and whose musical lives were inexorably linked as either teacher or student. Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 83 (The Hen) will be followed by Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto, with acclaimed soloist Tim Hawes. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in Bb, Opus 60 will conclude the programme.
