The BSO will be performing:
Elgar – Violin Concerto
Tchaikovsky -Symphony No. 5
Guest conductor: John Beswick
Soloist: Michael Foyle
The Bedfordshire Symphony Orchestra will present just two works in their forthcoming concert, but they are formidable compositions by giants of 19th and 20th century classical music. Edward Elgar’s technically difficult as well as musically appealing Violin Concerto, in B minor, Opus 61 will be performed by the multi award-winning violinist, Michael Foyle. The second half of the programme will be devoted to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Opus 64, in which, although not explicitly nationalistic, a distinctively Russian flavour pervades many of the themes.
