This Bedfordshire Symphony Orchestra concert will begin with Granville Bantock’s The Sea Reivers, conducted by the composer’s great-grandson, Bjorn Bantock. The programme will also include Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with Jakob Kullberg, a professor of cello at the Royal College of Music noted for his collaboration with the Danish composer Per Nørgård, as soloist. Tchaikovsky’s most dramatic and tragic last symphony, Symphony No. 6 ‘Pathétique’, rounds off BSO’s season of concerts.
