It will be followed by two orchestral songs by Holst\, Country Song and Marching Song\, which will then lead to the Arnold Clarinet Concerto No. 2 played by Paul Harris\, an enthusiastic champion of Arnold’s music and author of the composer’s biography. Paul will also give a pre-concert talk at 6.30pm about the composer and the concerto. The programme will also include Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with Jakob Kullberg\, a professor of cello at the Royal College of Music noted for his collaboration with the Danish composer Per Nørgård\, as soloist.
